Every week, we list the albums releases on the international metal scene. This week (September 25 to October 1) many albums are planned.
36 Crazyfists – Lanterns
36 Crazyfists, a group from Alaska that rocked our teenage years in the late 90s and the 2000s is back in force with the new album ‘Lanterns’, a mix of neo metal and metalcore. Brock Lindow and Steve Holt, founding members and only survivors of a 23-year-old career and 8 studio albums, seem to have found a great osmosis with their new drummer since 2012 and their album ‘Time and trauma’. This album is a bomb of energy, taking the most effective ingredients of the genre, mixed by talented and experienced musicians.
Black Stone Cherry – Black To Blues EP
Five months after the release of the excellent ‘Kentucky’, the quartet returns with this ‘Black To Blues’ which picks up classic songs of blues with the massive sound of the band. There are some must-haves from Howlin ‘Wolf, Muddy Waters, Freddie King and Albert King, all restored with the characteristic heaviness of the BLACK STONE CHERRY sound. The result is rather famous!
Heaven and Earth – Hard To Kill
HEAVEN & EARTH will release his fourth album, ‘Hard To Kill’, on September 29 via Quarto Valley Records. The band that recorded the album consists of Stuart Smith (guitar), Lynn Sorenson (bass / vocals), drummer Kenny Aronoff (THE ROLLING STONES, LADY GAGA, BRUNO MARS) and keyboardist Ty Baillie (KATY PERRY, ROBBIE ROBERTSON).
Kadavar – Rough Times
KADAVAR will release its fourth album, entitled ‘Rough Times’, on September 29 via Nuclear Blast. “The process of making this record was pretty intense. I went through my inner hell. While working all day, we are well, but at night all these things tortured me. The new songs are crazy and absurd at times, but also serious and very personal. This is the ambiguity that allows ‘Rough Times’ to stand. Each song evolved from a certain strong feeling.” (Tiger, drummer of the band)
Monolord – Rust
The Swedes obviously tried to get out of their beaten track. The songs are more mystical, more rock. The album is particularly well produced. We are struck by the quality of the composition. The album takes all its scope and meaning with regard to the journey of the trio. We wanted surprise? Here we go. This new album will be released on September 29 via the American label RidingEasy Records.
Primus – The Desaturating Seven
PRIMUS will release on September 29, 2017 its new album ‘The Desaturating Seven’ via label ATO Records, three years after ‘Primus & the Chocolate Factory with the Fungi Ensemble’.. It is inspired by the book ‘Rainbow Goblins’ by Italian writer and illustrator Ul de Rico.
UFO – The Salentino Cuts
UFO will release a cover album, ‘The Salentino Cuts’, on September 29th. The album will include cover songs such as ‘River of Deceit’ by MAD SEASONS, ‘Just Got Paid’ by ZZ TOP and ‘Heartful of Soul’ by THE YARDBIRDS. A North American tour is scheduled in September and October with SAXONS.
W.A.S.P. – Re-Idolized (The Soundtrack To The Crimson Idol)
The masterpiece of W.A.S.P. is finally reissued. along with the unpublished film about the album to celebrate its 25th anniversary. It was in 1992 when W.A.S.P. released ‘The Crimson Idol’. The album tells the story of a fictional character called Jonathan Aaron Steele, a child abused and in search of love. Our protagonist will discover the music years later, a field in which it will reach international stardom, but at the same time it will lead to a catastrophic fall. Analogies and similarities with the real protagonist?
